The first time I saw a Blue Morpho butterfly (Morpho peleides) in real life, I was 21 years old on a study abroad trip to the Amazon basin rain forest of Ecuador. I was instantly drawn to this enormous butterfly, trying to train my eyes on its erratic flight pattern to get a better look. I have been in love with them ever since.
This illustration was created by hand with liquid watercolor and black ink pen. Calligraphy in my own hand-lettering.
