Modern Calligraphy 201: Forming Words and Flourishes

Majuscules, Layouts, and Flourishes, oh my!

So you have learned the modern calligraphy alphabet, now what? Learn the art of how to connect letters together smoothly to create beautiful words and phrases. Expand your modern calligraphy practice in this supportive, in-person workshop.


In this workshop, you will learn how to:

  1. Upper-case letters (AKA Majuscules) to form proper names and words;

  2. How to incorporate flourishes into your calligraphy lettering; and

  3. How to create a layout of a phrase or quote in calligraphy.

Supplies needed: (all available from Tokki Art Supply)

·       One small-tip brush pen, such as Tombow Fudenosuke or Pentel Touch (hard tip or soft tip ok)

·       One large-tip brush pen, such as Tombow dual-tip brush pen or similar

·       Smooth, semi-translucent marker paper (Canson or similar)

·       Smooth tracing paper (Canson or similar)

 

This workshop is a wonderful follow up to Modern Calligraphy 101, or any calligraphy practice you have had in the past. All levels welcome! Hosted by Tokki Art Supply in Hood River.
