Drawing with Letters
Modern Calligraphy Level 1
🖋️ 🔡
Modern calligraphy is not about having perfect handwriting. It is a form of drawing in which letters become expressive shapes. In this hands-on workshop, you will learn how simple strokes and shapes come together to create the lowercase calligraphy alphabet. Using a brush pen, you will explore contrast, movement, and visual rhythm as you begin drawing letters with greater confidence and intention.
This workshop is designed for complete beginners, including anyone who believes their handwriting is “not good enough,” as well as returning students who would like to refresh their foundational skills before continuing into Molly’s Words as Art workshop (same day at Tokki Art Supply)!
In this workshop, you will learn:
How to use a brush pen to create expressive thick and thin lines
The eight essential shapes that form the modern calligraphy alphabet
How to combine those shapes to draw lowercase letters
How line, spacing, and rhythm give letterforms personality
What you will learn in this workshop - how to create the basic shapes that make up the calligraphy alphabet.
