Words as Art
Modern Calligraphy Level 2
🖋️ 🔡
Move beyond individual letters and discover how words can become expressive works of art. Modern calligraphy is not about making every letter perfect. It is about using shape, rhythm, spacing, and movement to give words personality and meaning.
In this supportive, hands-on workshop, you will learn how to connect letterforms with greater confidence, then explore how flourishes and composition can shape the mood of a word or phrase. You will use these techniques to create a balanced hand-lettered composition based on your name, a meaningful word, or a short phrase.
This workshop is the natural next step after Molly’s Drawing with Letters workshop, and a welcoming re-entry point for students who have previously studied the modern calligraphy alphabet.
In this workshop, you will learn:
How to connect calligraphy letters smoothly to form words
How spacing and rhythm affect the flow of a hand-lettered composition
How to use flourishes as expressive and compositional elements
How to create a personalized word or phrase as a finished piece of lettering art
What you will learn in this workshop - how to create a “words as art” layout in modern calligraphy.
