Temperance is from my original trot deck illustration collection, A Tarot of These Times. Temperance is a card from the tarot’s major arcana.
Temperance, the card and the concept, has long eluded me. Instead of showing the usual theme of self-moderation, I wanted to show someone enjoying their favorite foods, slowly and mindfully, really savoring every bite. It is also an homage to one of the first meditations my own therapist introduced me to years ago, called “mindfulness with chocolate.”
Meaning:
Savor life’s delicious moments
Finding a balance
Enjoy pleasures without guilt
Materials: Hand-drawn linework, calligraphy, and Roman numerals drawn in Procreate; hand-painted with liquid watercolor and India ink. Giclee art print on archival paper.
