Chapter 3: Wrapping up
IN THIS LESSON
Tips for getting great colors
In this lesson, I share some tips to keep in mind while painting with watercolor, including how to gauge how dark your colors will be and how to print your drawings for painting.
Tip #1: Remember that watercolor paint tends to dry lighter than other types of paint, up to 30% lighter! So don’t be afraid to layer on color.
Tip #2: If you want to paint on a printout of a drawing like we did today, it’s a good idea to use a printer that has ink that is water-resistant. Laser printer ink tends to work well. I use an Epson Workforce printer that has water-resistant ink in my studio, and I print on hot-press watercolor paper for projects like these.
